Alex Dahlberg, a Canadian studying in New York, wasn’t looking for a selfie when she approached Prime Minister Trudeau on his recent trip to New York City. She saw his visit as an opportunity to call him to reject a controversial tar sands pipeline that Trudeau has hinted he’ll approve later this year.

Just see for yourself:

In the video Trudeau cites the need for a “proper process”, but Alex wasn’t sold.

“What the Prime Minister calls a proper process for the Kinder Morgan pipeline has ignored climate change and failed to listen to Indigenous peoples. The pipeline would wreck Canada’s ability to meet climate commitments.”

Following the exchange, Alex and fellow Canadian students unfurled a banner that read “Respect Indigenous Rights: Stop Kinder Morgan” in from the Museum of Modern Art, where Trudeau was attending a fundraiser

Join us on Oct 24th in Ottawa to join these students and call for Trudeau to respect Indigenous Rights and reject the Kinder Morgan pipeline!
